Two world records on fifth stop of FINA World Cup

Two world records were broken on the fifth of seven stops on the FINA Swimming World Cup in Moscow, Russia, Nov. 8-9. South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh was responsible for both records, lowering the standard in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke. Van der Burgh clocked a time of 26.08 in the 50m race and bettered Ed Moses' record of 57.47 in the 100 to 56.88.
Ous Melloui of Tunisia, who trains under University of Southern California head coach Dave Salo, added another four gold medals to his name, bringing his World Cup wins to a total of 22. Melloui took home victories in the 200m and 400m IM, as well as the 400m and 1500m free.
Russia's Valentina Artemyeva was named the women's Most Valuable Swimmer, as she established a new world cup record in the 50m breast with a time of 29.86. On the women's side, Australian Marieke Guehrer continues to lead the World Cup rankings with a total of 116 points, while Van der Burgh lead's the men's side with 95 points.
